The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's strongest condemnation of the statements made by the so-called military spokesperson of the Houthi terrorist militia, accusing the Kingdom of imposing a blockade on the brotherly Yemeni people and banning maritime navigation to Yemen.

The ministry affirmed in its statement yesterday that the Kingdom has worked over the past years, in coordination with the legitimate Yemeni government, to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people through the continuation of development projects, supporting the Yemeni government's budget, and providing oil derivatives to operate power plants. It also clarified that the ports of northern Yemen (Hodeidah, Salif, Ras Issa) received during the first half of 2026 more than 300 ships carrying foodstuffs, goods, fuel, and construction materials, while maintaining adherence to Security Council Resolution 2216, which prevents the entry of weapons and ammunition that the Houthi militia seeks to introduce to prolong its control over the capabilities of the Yemeni people.

The ministry recalled the Houthi militia's record of attacks targeting the Yemeni people and infrastructure, including the targeting of Aden Airport on 30/12/2020, which resulted in dozens of martyrs and wounded, in addition to the targeting of oil export ports in southern Yemen on 21/10/2022 during the truce period, and the subsequent attacks aimed at disrupting the government's ability to sell oil—which accounts for about 60% of its revenues—thereby directly impacting the payment of employee salaries. It also pointed out the militia's confiscation of four aircraft belonging to Yemenia Airways after they transported Yemeni pilgrims from Jeddah, and dragging Yemen into regional conflicts by targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, which increased the suffering of Yemenis, prevented them from traveling, and deepened economic crises, particularly in areas under the militia's control. Furthermore, the militia rejected all initiatives to resume flights from Sana'a Airport, the latest of which was the Jordanian initiative, alongside ongoing humanitarian violations against Yemeni citizens and attempts to export its internal crises and public rejection by fabricating false accusations directed at the Kingdom.

The Kingdom's Support for Peace Efforts

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that the Kingdom's position is based on the pursuit of peace in Yemen and ending the suffering of its people, as the Kingdom has supported UN efforts to achieve peace over the past years, including the roadmap approved by the Yemeni government, while the Houthi militia refrained from announcing its acceptance and instead engaged in regional conflicts to serve its own agendas, which doubled the suffering of Yemenis in areas under its control.

The ministry added that the Kingdom demands the international community shoulder its responsibilities in implementing relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 2216 regarding Yemen, and Resolution 2722 concerning the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, affirming at the same time that the Kingdom will take all necessary measures to protect its ships in accordance with international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The ministry concluded its statement by affirming the Kingdom's continued support for the brotherly Yemeni people and its legitimate government.
