Yemen Praises Kingdom's Position and Affirms: Houthis Threaten Navigation, Blockade Claims Misleading
The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the content of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, praising what it described as the Kingdom's firm and supportive positions for Yemen, its people and legitimate government, and its role in supporting state institutions and alleviating human suffering, in addition to its political, economic and humanitarian efforts aimed at achieving peace and enhancing Yemen's security, stability and unity.
The ministry affirmed that the Saudi statement highlighted what it described as violations committed by the Houthi group against the Yemeni people and its national resources, considering that these practices contributed to the worsening of the humanitarian and economic crisis and prolonged the conflict. It also rejected the group's claims regarding a blockade on Yemen, describing them as an attempt to evade responsibility for the deterioration of living conditions and obstruction of peace efforts.
The Yemeni Foreign Ministry called on the international community to support the legitimate government in implementing Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, and to take a firm stance towards what it described as Houthi threats to regional and international security, and to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb.
The Republic of Yemen also renewed its affirmation of support for the measures taken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to protect its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and waterways.
