The Chairman of the General Transport Authority, Engineer Fawaz bin Zanaaf Al-Sahli, headed the Kingdom's delegation participating in the 137th session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council meetings, held in the British capital, London.

The Authority stated that the participation is part of the Kingdom's efforts to strengthen its presence in international maritime forums and support the development of the maritime transport sector, in line with the targets of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.

The Authority noted that the meetings discussed a number of strategic issues, including raising the efficiency of the maritime sector, enhancing maritime safety and security, and supporting international cooperation in this field.

For his part, the Chairman held a number of bilateral meetings with officials from countries and international organizations, during which ways to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise were discussed, along with reviewing the Kingdom's most prominent achievements in developing the maritime sector.

In the same context, the Authority affirmed that the Kingdom's participation in the work of the International Maritime Organization is an extension of its active role in developing maritime policies and enhancing cooperation with countries and organizations, supporting the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub, and reinforcing its commitment to international agreements and standards related to the safety, security, and sustainability of maritime transport.
