A mother and her four children were killed, while the father was critically injured, in a fire that broke out inside the family home in the village of Al-Luqiyah, belonging to Samtah Governorate, south of Jazan region, on Tuesday evening, due to a short circuit.

According to information, the fire broke out inside the home, prompting neighboring residents to intervene in an attempt to rescue the family members and call the relevant authorities, but the fire resulted in the death of the mother and children at the scene.

The official spokesman for the Jazan Health Cluster, Jibril Al-Qabi, explained that Samtah General Hospital received a report on Tuesday evening, July 21, 2026, about the fire incident, where medical and emergency teams began dealing with the cases immediately upon arrival according to approved treatment procedures.

He pointed out that the hospital received six cases, including one injured person (the father) who suffered cardiac arrest, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed before he was transferred to King Fahd Central Hospital in Jazan to complete medical care, where he is currently in intensive care in critical and unstable condition.

He added that the incident resulted in five deaths due to suffocation, including a 37-year-old woman, an 11-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, a 6-year-old boy, and a 1-year-old girl.

The official spokesman confirmed that all legal procedures related to the deceased have been completed in coordination with the relevant authorities, expressing heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the victims' families, and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
