Rafhaa, 10 Safar 1448 AH corresponding to July 24, 2026 AD SPA - The sandy dunes of Irq Al-Ashyakh, southwest of Rafhaa Governorate, are adorned with tufts of the Sebat plant, locally known as "Al-Nasi", in a scene that breaks the stereotypical image of the vast desert and reflects the richness of vegetation in sandy environments and the ecological diversity of the Kingdom's deserts. Irq Al-Ashyakh is located about (130) kilometers southwest of Rafhaa Governorate, and during this period it is witnessing a remarkable spread of Sebat plant, one of the perennial summer plants belonging to the Poaceae family, which grows naturally in sandy soil and has a high ability to adapt to harsh climatic conditions, making it one of the most prominent grazing plants in desert environments. The plant plays an important environmental role in supporting the sustainability of pastures, as it is a natural source of livestock feed and contributes to improving soil properties and reducing sand encroachment, due to its ability to spread and reproduce, thereby enhancing ecological balance and preserving vegetation cover in desert areas.
