The State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the statements made by the military spokesperson of the Houthi group, in which he accused the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of imposing a blockade on the Yemeni people and banning maritime navigation.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in implementing relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost of which are Resolution 2216 concerning Yemen and Resolution 2722 regarding rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

Qatari support for Saudi Arabia

The Ministry affirmed that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a fundamental principle in international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed Qatar's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to preserve its sovereignty and security, noting that Saudi Arabia's security is an integral part of the security of Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
