Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities Launches Purple Saturday 6
The Authority for the Care of Persons with Disabilities today launched the sixth edition of the 'Purple Saturday' initiative, with broad participation from government entities, the private sector, and the non-profit sector, as part of the Authority's efforts to enhance the integration of persons with disabilities and enable them to benefit from services and commercial offers in more inclusive and accessible environments.
The initiative aims to encourage stores and commercial and service establishments to offer discounts, offers, and benefits dedicated to persons with disabilities, as well as raise awareness of their needs and promote the application of accessibility standards, thereby improving the quality of services provided to them and enhancing their active participation in various aspects of life. The sixth edition of the initiative extends the successes achieved since its launch in 2021, as it has seen continuous expansion in its scope and the number of participating entities, and is no longer limited to the Kingdom, as this year's edition includes a number of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, reflecting the growing impact and regional expansion of the initiative. The Authority looks forward to continuing this expansion in the coming years, reaching - God willing - to enhance the initiative's presence globally, to be a pioneering model in empowering persons with disabilities, promoting their integration, and disseminating best practices in the field of inclusion and accessibility.
The Authority also launched the Purple Saturday Award for this year, which aims to honor entities and individuals distinguished in supporting the initiative and enhancing its impact. It includes four tracks: Best Commercial Offer, Best Initiative Event, Non-Profit Sector Initiative, and Coverage by Persons with Disabilities. The Authority emphasized that the 'Purple Saturday' initiative is one of the leading national initiatives that contribute to strengthening partnership with various sectors and consolidating the concepts of integration and empowerment, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 towards an inclusive, enabling, and equitable society. The Authority invited persons with disabilities to benefit from the discounts and offers provided within the initiative, to view the participating entities and details of the offers, and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the initiative in various regions of the Kingdom via the website: https://ps.apd.gov.sa/ar.
