Can residency permit renewal for domestic workers be for less than a year? Passports Directorate clarifies
A follower inquired whether domestic workers' residency permits can be renewed for periods shorter than a year. The Passports Directorate responded that currently renewals are available only for one or two years via Absher, and any updates will be officially announced.
An inquiry was submitted to the official account of the General Directorate of Passports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from a follower, stating: 'I want to renew for my domestic worker but there is only one or two years, not less?'
The Passports Directorate clarified, via its page on X (formerly Twitter), that currently the service for renewing residency permits for domestic workers is available for one or two years through the Absher platform, and that an official announcement will be made when the service is updated.
Renewing residency permit
The General Directorate of Passports had announced the possibility of renewing residency permits electronically for those outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia via the Absher platform. This service allows easy online renewal of residency permits for dependents of residents and domestic workers.
Residency permit renewal for domestic workers can be done by logging into the Absher website, then selecting Labor Services, then Resident Services, choosing the beneficiary, and finally, Renew Residency Permit.
As for renewing residency permits for dependents, it requires logging into the Absher website, then going to Family Members Services, then Resident Services, selecting the beneficiary, and then Renew Residency Permit.
