Environment / More than 5 tons of Samr honey produced in Amlaj as production and sorting season begins
Amlaj, Muharram 27, 1448 AH, corresponding to July 12, 2026, SPA -- Beekeepers in Amlaj Governorate in the Tabuk region have begun the production and sorting season for Samr honey, which is widespread in the plains and valleys of the governorate and is considered one of the most important natural pastures for producing high-quality honey. Amlaj Governorate is known for its dense Samr trees, which produce one of the finest types of honey in the Kingdom. Total production of Samr honey has so far exceeded 5 tons, with sorting operations continuing throughout the season. The Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's branch in the Tabuk region, Engineer Amjad bin Abdullah Thallab, explained that the Tabuk region possesses distinctive natural features that have contributed to the development of the beekeeping and honey production sector. He noted that the ministry is working to support beekeepers through sustainable rural development programs, foremost among them the Reef program, which helps improve production efficiency, enhance product quality, and promote the economic sustainability of this promising sector. He affirmed that the governorate has an increasing number of beekeepers who have contributed to raising production volume and improving honey quality, thanks to the region's plant diversity and suitable environment for beekeeping. Samr honey is one of the most prominent products for which Amlaj Governorate is famous, and it enjoys wide demand due to its high quality and distinctive nutritional properties, which enhances the governorate's status as one of the leading natural honey production areas in the Kingdom.
