The Maternity and Children's Hospital in the Qassim region witnessed a complex treatment journey for the Jordanian child Abdulrahman Al-Kharabsheh, who lost his family in a tragic traffic accident.

Dr. Khaled Mohammed Al-Lamea, consultant pediatric orthopedic surgeon and medical director of the children's hospital, expressed thanks and appreciation to the Governor of Qassim Region, Dr. Faisal bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, for his visit and fatherly concern for the child's condition.

He explained in an interview with Al Arabiya that Abdulrahman's case is one of the complex cases the hospital received after he was involved in a traffic accident, noting that from the moment Abdulrahman arrived at the emergency department, the severe injury code was activated, which is a life-saving protocol that calls specialized teams for such cases.

He added that the examinations revealed multiple injuries including a brain injury, fractures in the face and jaws, injuries to the liver and spleen, and fluid accumulation in the abdomen.

He confirmed that he was diagnosed with five fractures, including complex ones, and after Abdulrahman's condition stabilized, he underwent a seven-hour surgery in which all fractures were fixed. He explained that after the surgical procedure, he was transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit for optimal care until his health stabilized, then moved to the ward to provide optimal care and rehabilitation to prepare him for discharge home in a stable condition.

Jamilah Al-Juhani, the social worker, confirmed that the medical team provided psychological and social support to Abdulrahman from the first moment, in coordination with psychological and social specialists, to create a safe environment for him within the facility.

She pointed out the smart child's positive response to the medical team, which helped strengthen the positive relationship between him and the caregivers.
