With the announcement of university admission results, we hear some say, 'I was not accepted!' and others say, 'I was accepted into a major I don't want!' Some believe that the doors to success have closed and their future is over. Does the university really determine a person's destiny?

Looking at life, we find that successful people are not bound by whether they studied at university or not; rather, they strive for success by any means that achieve it for them. The university is one of these means, not the only one, relying—after God's guidance—on ambition, love of learning through reading, benefiting from life experiences, and seeking to acquire skills. Some of them even hire those with the highest academic degrees. Arthur Guterman said, 'He who learns by research has seven times the skill of he who learns by orders.' The evidence of successful people who did not complete their studies is beyond count. The heroes of our Islamic history in various fields have written the most wonderful examples of human success, and we need not be reminded that many of them were not graduates of the world's top universities.

The creative British novelist Agatha Christie, author of famous novels numbering about eighty, whose works have been translated into many languages and sold over two billion copies, never went to school, let alone university.

The writer Abbas Mahmoud Al-Aqqad, author of the famous 'Al-Abqariyyat' series, including 'The Genius of Muhammad—peace be upon him', 'The Genius of Omar', and 'The Genius of Khalid', whose works exceed one hundred books, only held a primary school certificate, but he developed his knowledge and educated himself until he became one of the most prominent writers and thinkers.

Similarly, the founder of one of the world's largest automobile manufacturing companies started his life as a construction worker carrying stones and mud until he established his project, as did the founder of one of the world's largest furniture companies, and the founder of a leading global technology company, and many other successful people in the East and West.

None of these people say: do not study at universities to succeed. Rather, they say: the university is a great path to success, but it is not the only path. For those whose doors are not open today, they should not close the doors of ambition upon themselves.
