Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University contributed eight qualitative initiatives to the third Voluntary National Review report of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 2026, which was presented at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development at the United Nations headquarters in New York, showcasing the most prominent national efforts in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

The university's president, Prof. Dr. Fahd bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, affirmed that the university's participation in preparing the report represents an extension of its national role and embodies its contribution alongside various state sectors in supporting the comprehensive development process, in line with the targets of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

He explained that the eight initiatives cover the fields of education, innovation, community service, support for the national economy, and climate action, through the annual institutional project 'Mustadam', which enhances the integration of sustainable development goals into the university's educational, research, and community system.

Al-Harbi noted that what the university presented in the national report is the fruit of continuous institutional work, based on developing academic and research programs, launching community initiatives, and building strategic partnerships, emphasizing that sustainable development is one of the main pillars of the university's third strategic plan.

He revealed that the university has joined the League of Universities and Higher Education Institutions for the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (LEAP-FAST), led by UNESCO, reflecting its commitment to enhancing its international presence, expanding its global partnerships, and exchanging best practices with leading academic institutions.

For his part, the Vice President for Development and Community Partnership, Prof. Dr. Asim bin Abdulrahman Al-Ansari, explained that the Sustainable Development Unit undertook the preparation and coordination of the university's participation in the report, by inventorying and documenting institutional initiatives and programs and aligning them with the Sustainable Development Goals, in cooperation with various colleges, deanships, and departments.

Al-Ansari added that the eight initiatives reflected a clear impact in the areas of social, economic, and environmental development, and confirmed the integration of the university's sectors' roles in supporting the targets of Vision 2030, noting that the Sustainable Development Unit continues its efforts to establish a culture of sustainability and lead the processes of monitoring, documentation, and impact measurement, highlighting the university's experience as a leading national model in this field.
