The Madinah Region Development Authority launched the international competition for design ideas for the "Jabal Um Nithilah" site, within the initiatives of the "Al-Munawarah Innovates" program, with prizes exceeding (1.6) million riyals, aiming to attract the best design ideas to transform the site into a sustainable cultural and tourist destination.

The authority explained that the competition targets designers, studios, and multidisciplinary design teams from around the world to present innovative visions for developing the site, taking into account its natural and environmental characteristics through designs inspired by its volcanic nature, preserving its geological identity, and highlighting its geological and cultural value, in line with sustainable development goals, enhancing quality of life, and enriching the urban landscape of Madinah.

The authority stated that the competition will select eight teams to reimagine Jabal Um Nithilah, located 14 kilometers south of the Prophet's Mosque, as a destination of cultural, environmental, and experimental importance, noting that it is an ideas competition with implementation potential, while retaining the option to commission the winning team, in whole or in part, to develop or implement elements of the winning proposal.
