Jazan University launched the Mawhiba Research Enrichment Program (Female Students Track) in partnership with the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba), aiming to develop scientific research and innovation skills among gifted female students. The program takes place at the female students' complex in Mahaliyah and several research centers at the university.

Officials explained that the program lasts four weeks in a non-residential attendance format, and involves a number of female students qualified through the National Program for Identifying Gifted Students. The university provides an integrated research environment supervised by researchers and specialists to enhance practical experience and link theoretical knowledge with scientific practice.

Program themes and activities

Organizers noted that the program aims to develop female students' passion for scientific research, enabling them to learn research methodologies and acquire skills through hands-on practice, in addition to conducting research of scientific value and directly interacting with researchers.

The students' research is distributed across four scientific tracks: medical, biological, and chemical sciences; physics, earth, and space sciences; engineering sciences; and computer science and applied mathematics, aligning with national priorities in research and innovation.

Program content and objectives

Dr. Ruqayah bint Nasser Ma'afa, the program chair, added that the university's hosting of this event reflects its interest in nurturing gifted female students and creating a stimulating environment that contributes to preparing qualified female researchers to help achieve the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. She affirmed that the program provides an applied scientific experience that enriches participants' knowledge and enhances their skills in research and innovation.

In the same context, the program includes specialized scientific and research content, practical activities, scientific projects, skill-building packages for developing emotional intelligence, initiative, and creative thinking, as well as scientific visits. It concludes with a ceremony to showcase the students' projects and research achievements.

It is worth noting that the Mawhiba Research Enrichment Program is one of the national initiatives for identifying and nurturing gifted individuals. Its implementation at Jazan University is an extension of the partnership with Mawhiba Foundation, contributing to preparing national competencies and strengthening the scientific research and innovation ecosystem in priority development areas.
