Jeddah Municipality Develops Al-Tahliya Intersections with King Fahd and Al-Makarona to Address Congestion
Jeddah Municipality has begun improvement works at two major intersections on Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Road (Al-Tahliya) to ease traffic congestion, as part of a comprehensive traffic solution under the Quality of Life program aligned with Vision 2030.
The Jeddah Municipality has commenced improvement and development works to address traffic congestion at the intersections of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Road (Al-Tahliya) with King Fahd Road and Al-Makarona Road, as part of an integrated project to implement traffic solutions aimed at enhancing vehicle movement efficiency and achieving greater smoothness on this major axis.
The municipality stated that the project falls under the initiatives of the Quality of Life program, one of the targets of Vision 2030, and includes a package of engineering and traffic solutions: increasing the road's capacity, improving traffic flow, reducing congestion, as well as developing the urban landscape of the two intersections to enhance the quality of the urban environment.
The works include installing traffic signals to regulate movement, improving entry and exit points connecting the main road with the service road, thereby enhancing traffic safety levels and reducing waiting time at congestion points.
The municipality confirmed the implementation of necessary traffic diversions to ensure continuity of movement and maintain public safety throughout the execution period, noting that the project started on February 1, 2026, with a completion rate of 10%, and all works are scheduled to be completed by the end of the third quarter of this year.
The two intersections serve Al-Tahliya Road and central Jeddah, and the project benefits residents of Al-Faisaliyah, Al-Safa, Al-Rehab, and Al-Aziziyah neighborhoods. It comes within Jeddah Municipality's plan to develop priority intersections through practical solutions that raise the efficiency of the road network and improve the mobility experience.
