Yesterday, the Jeddah Municipality issued notices to owners of dilapidated shops and buildings at risk of collapse in the vicinity of Souk al-Quwazin, in preparation for completing legal procedures and carrying out demolition works, as part of its efforts to protect lives and property and address sites that pose a risk to public safety.

Ibrahim Al-Sulami, head of the Southern Sub-Municipality, explained that the notices grant owners a statutory period of two months from the date of receipt before demolition works begin, and that owners of adjacent buildings have also been notified of the planned procedures at the site.

He stated that the municipality inspected the sites, and inspection results showed that their structural condition is unsafe, and that leaving them in their current state poses a risk to public safety, necessitating their inclusion among the sites scheduled for demolition.

Jeddah Municipality affirmed its continued monitoring of dilapidated buildings and sites and addressing them according to approved legal procedures, which contributes to preserving lives and property and improving the urban landscape.
