Madinah Leads Saudi Cities in Hospitality Facility Occupancy
سجلت المدينة المنورة أعلى نسب إشغال لمرافق الضيافة على مستوى المدن السعودية خلال الربع الأول من العام الجاري، مدعومة بنمو متواصل في أعداد الزوار وتوسع البنية التحتية.
The Ministry of Tourism revealed that Madinah recorded the highest occupancy rate for hospitality facilities among the Kingdom's cities at 82% during the first quarter of this year, while the average daily price reached 453 riyals, and the revenue per available room reached 372 riyals, indicators reflecting the strong demand for the destination and the efficiency of the hospitality system in accommodating the continuous growth in the number of visitors and pilgrims.
Number of tourism hospitality facilities in Madinah rises to 661
For its part, the Madinah Region Development Authority confirmed that the performance indicators of the hospitality sector during the first quarter of 2026 reflect the continued growth witnessed by the sector in the region, supported by the expansion of capacity and the increased readiness of hospitality facilities, which enhances Madinah's position as a leading destination for hospitality and tourism, and consolidates its role in supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 aimed at improving the visitor experience and developing the tourism sector.
The authority indicated that the number of licensed tourism hospitality facilities in Madinah rose to 661 by the end of the first quarter of 2026, while the total number of licensed rooms reached 80,223 rooms, representing about 15% of the total licensed rooms in the Kingdom, according to the Ministry of Tourism indicators, which reflects the growth of tourism investments and the continued expansion of the hospitality sector's infrastructure in the region.
Madinah continues to achieve competitive results in sectoral indicators; it led the Kingdom in hotel occupancy rate at 84%, and achieved advanced positions in the indicators of average daily price and revenue per available room, in addition to the distinguished performance of hotel apartments and other facilities, reflecting the maturity of the sector and the sustainability of its growth.
The Madinah Region Development Authority affirmed that these indicators reflect the integration of efforts among various relevant entities to develop the tourism sector and enhance Madinah's attractiveness as a global destination that receives visitors and pilgrims according to the highest quality standards, contributing to supporting economic development, improving quality of life, and enhancing the city's competitiveness locally and internationally.
