Amateur astronomers and night photographers observed the arm of the Milky Way galaxy shining in the sky of the "Umm al-Asafir" area, located 60 kilometers south of Rafha governorate, in a striking astronomical scene that showed the clear extension of the arm thanks to clear skies and low levels of light pollution, providing ideal conditions for observation and photography.

Burgis Al-Fulaij, a member of the Aafaq Society for Astronomical Sciences, told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the scene revealed the dense extension of the galaxy's arm in the heart of the sky, with thousands of stars and star clouds standing out, in an image reflecting the purity of the atmosphere and the absence of influential light sources at the site, which contributed to showing the details of the arm clearly and highlighting the beauty of the night sky.

Al-Fulaij pointed out that the periods at the beginning and end of each lunar month during July, August, September, and October are among the best times to observe the Milky Way arm, as the absence of moonlight or its low intensity increases the galaxy's contrast and shows its details more clearly, providing a suitable environment for amateur observers and astrophotographers.

He affirmed that desert areas with low light pollution are among the most suitable locations for observing astronomical phenomena, due to their open horizon and clear sky that allow viewing celestial objects with the naked eye or using astronomical equipment, supporting the growing interest in astronomy tourism and nature photography in the Kingdom.
