Confiscation of 3 Tons of Fruits and Vegetables of Unknown Origin in Asir
The Asir Region Municipality intensified its field inspection tours to curb the phenomenon of street vending, enhance compliance with regulations, preserve public health, and improve the urban landscape. The municipality explained that evening inspection teams carried out field tours targeting locations where street vendors are widespread, resulting in the confiscation of 2,988 kilograms of fruits and vegetables displayed in illegal, random, and unknown-origin ways, which were run by irregular labor, as part of its ongoing efforts to address violative practices and ensure the safety of displayed products. It stated that the confiscated quantities were handed over to the Association for Preserving Blessings to benefit from them according to approved procedures, contributing to supporting charitable work and reducing food waste. The Asir Region Municipality affirmed the continuation of its daily inspection campaigns on street vending sites and markets, to enhance compliance with regulations, preserve public health, and improve the quality of services and the urban landscape, urging everyone to purchase their needs from licensed official outlets to maintain consumer safety.
