Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives British Foreign Secretary

Doha, July 24 (QNA) - His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received today His Excellency Mr. Ed Miliband, Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, who is currently visiting the country.

At the outset of the meeting, His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs congratulated His Excellency Mr. Ed Miliband on the occasion of his assumption of the post of Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom.

During the meeting, they reviewed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them, and discussed the latest regional developments, especially diplomatic efforts and joint coordination to de-escalate and promote security and stability in the region.

His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed during the meeting the necessity of all parties committing to dialogue and diplomacy, and implementing what has been agreed upon within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, to maintain the security of the region, preserve the gains achieved, and enhance regional stability.

His Excellency reiterated the State of Qatar's full support for all endeavors aimed at defusing tension and reaching a comprehensive agreement that achieves sustainable peace in the region.
