Professional Literature Association Enhances National Literature Presence with Lecture on Poets of Al-Far'ah

The Embassy of the Professional Literature Association in Al-Washm will organize next Friday evening a literary lecture entitled "Poets from the Town of Al-Far'ah" at Amasi Al-Reef Café in Al-Far'ah, as part of events aimed at highlighting local poetic experiences and honoring literary pioneers in the region. Dr. Abdul Latif bin Muhammad Al-Humaid, head of the Literature Association Embassy in Al-Washm, welcomed the participants in the poetic evening of Al-Far'ah and commended the role of the Ministry of Culture, represented by the Professional Literature Association, which has generously established 61 literary embassies in cities of the Kingdom, including the Embassy of Al-Washm, headquartered at Dar Turath Al-Washm in Shaqra Governorate.

Al-Humaid expressed his happiness that the event is being held in the historic town of Al-Far'ah, known for its history, heritage, men, and poets. He thanked the lecturer, Mr. Khaled Al-Fayez, the moderator, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Mousa, and the host, Mr. Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Fayez, owner of Amasi Al-Reef Restaurant and Café.

He also extended his thanks to the head of the Al-Far'ah Center, Mr. Nawaf Al-Fayez, and thanked his fellow distinguished members of the Al-Washm Embassy, as well as everyone who attends, interacts, and encourages.

The lecture will be presented by poet Khaled bin Abdulaziz Al-Fayez, showcasing examples of poets from Al-Far'ah, their creative paths, and their contributions to both popular and classical poetry scenes, in addition to addressing the artistic features that distinguish their work and the role of the local environment in shaping their poetic experiences.

The meeting will be moderated by Ibrahim bin Suleiman Al-Mousa, who will introduce discussions on the importance of documenting local literary experiences and linking them to the cultural memory of Al-Washm, as these meetings contribute to highlighting influential literary voices in their social and cultural milieu. The café is expected to see attendance from those interested in literature and heritage, engaging with the readings and testimonies presented about the town's poets, in an evening that combines knowledge and loyalty to the local literary heritage.

This event comes within the framework of the efforts of the Professional Literature Association, which works to enhance literary activity in the Kingdom's regions through specialized programs concerned with reviving local experiences, empowering talents, and connecting literature with its social and cultural space. The association, through its ambassadors in Al-Washm, is keen to present initiatives that highlight the literary identity of the region and support the presence of writers and poets on cultural platforms.

Al-Far'ah is one of the towns of the Al-Washm region, affiliated with Shaqra Governorate, northwest of the Riyadh region, with deep historical roots. It is characterized by its quiet rural environment and the interest of its people in science, literature, and agriculture, as it features fertile land and fresh water. The historian and writer Abdullah bin Musa'id Al-Fayez says it was anciently called Al-Basira, after Basra in Iraq, due to the abundance and quality of its palm trees and the sweetness of its water. A number of poets and writers have emerged from it, contributing to shaping the features of popular literature in the region. It is worth noting that the Al-Washm Embassy has organized literary evenings in Marat, Shaqra, Ushaiger, Al-Qasab, and Tharmada since its formation, which received positive echoes and dense attendance from those interested in history, literature, and heritage.
