Riyadh, Muharram 6, 1448 AH corresponding to June 21, 2026 (SPA) - On the occasion of World Refugee Day, which falls on June 20 each year, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) highlights the humanitarian efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting refugees and displaced people around the world, based on its humanitarian values and commitment to supporting the most needy groups and enhancing human dignity wherever they are. Saudi Arabia is a leading global model in providing humanitarian support to refugees, visitors, and displaced people, both within its borders and through its relief, humanitarian, and development programs that have reached various countries worldwide, leaving a tangible impact witnessed by all. The total aid provided to them amounts to (23) billion and (761) million US dollars, confirming its leading role as one of the largest donors of humanitarian aid internationally. In this context, the Kingdom has paid special attention to supporting refugees residing within it by providing free treatment and education, offering job opportunities, and facilitating their integration into society, as they are present in all regions of the Kingdom. The value of aid provided to refugees (visitors) from Yemen, Syria, the Rohingya minority, and Sudan until 2026 reached (20) billion and (430) million US dollars, and the proportion of refugees within the Kingdom is (5.5%) of the total population. KSrelief continues to implement its relief programs to ensure aid reaches its beneficiaries efficiently and impartially. These programs include establishing and equipping camps, operating mobile medical clinics, distributing food baskets and shelter materials (tents, blankets, and bags), as well as implementing water supply and environmental sanitation projects in a number of countries. The Syrian Arab Republic topped the list of countries benefiting from the center's projects for refugees, with (254) projects implemented at a cost of (290) million dollars, including the management and operation of KSrelief clinics in the Zaatari camp in Jordan at a cost exceeding two million US dollars, distribution of vouchers for purchasing winter clothing for Syrian refugee families in Lebanon as part of the (Kanaf) project with a total value of (700) thousand US dollars, in addition to operating the Al-Amal Charity Bakery, which contributes to providing the main supplies for bread production, where more than (6) million loaves of bread were distributed to Syrian refugees and displaced persons during the implementation period, worth over (3) million US dollars. In Yemen, the center implemented (49) humanitarian projects with a total value exceeding (145) million US dollars, including the operation and maintenance of the Saudi Village for Yemeni Refugees in Abkh Governorate in the Republic of Djibouti, as well as operating medical clinics to provide primary and emergency health services and treat cases in their early stages. The center's efforts also included implementing (41) projects in the State of Palestine worth over (17) million US dollars, focusing on providing food and agricultural security, securing vital supplies for bread production, and providing purchase vouchers for beneficiaries to enable them to buy basic food items. As evidence of the Kingdom's keenness, represented by KSrelief, to support refugees and enhance efforts directed towards them, the center signed a joint executive program with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to enhance protection services for displaced and refugee families in the Republic of Yemen, benefiting (44,722) individuals with a total value exceeding (3) million US dollars. The center also signed another executive program to provide emergency relief aid to the population affected by the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, benefiting (23,696) individuals. The program aims to improve living conditions for displaced persons, returnees, and those affected by the crisis, and reduce risks associated with winter. Likewise, the center signed a joint executive program to secure and distribute (3,400) shelter bags to the most needy families in Burkina Faso, benefiting (17,000) individuals, aimed at reducing food insecurity, improving family conditions, and transitioning them to better stages. It is worth noting that KSrelief has implemented (4,394) projects in (113) countries around the world since its establishment in 2015, at a value exceeding (8) billion and (482) million US dollars.
