Science and Technology / 'Ministry of Communications' Launches AI Skills Certificate Program to Enhance National Capabilities
Riyadh, Safar 02, 1448 AH, corresponding to July 16, 2026, SPA -- The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in cooperation with Ernst & Young Saudi Arabia (EY KSA) and Microsoft, launched the EY Microsoft AI Skills Passport program via the national e-learning platform 'FutureX' under the National Center for E-Learning. It is an integrated digital training program that provides a comprehensive introduction to artificial intelligence and digital culture, with a focus on ethical aspects, practical applications, and readiness for the future of work in the intelligent age. The program aims to enable participants to acquire basic knowledge and digital skills related to AI, and understand its practical uses in vital sectors, through an interconnected educational journey that starts with the basics of technology and programming, and extends to business, sustainability, and employability, in line with current and future labor market requirements. The program focuses on enhancing understanding of technology basics, distinguishing between hardware and software and their role in building digital systems, in addition to introducing programming concepts, languages, and patterns, and the role of AI in software development, while exploring its various applications and responsible use in multiple fields, contributing to raising participants' digital readiness. The program also addresses the role of AI in supporting sustainability, entrepreneurship, and information technology, in addition to developing professional readiness skills and building a career path in the intelligent age, through an applied educational experience that enhances digital thinking and innovation. The availability of the program on the national e-learning platform 'FutureX' comes as part of its role in enabling entities to offer digital education and training programs, and expanding access to quality educational opportunities, through an integrated national environment that supports efficient and high-quality digital content delivery, and enhances integration between entities and education and training providers. The program targets all students aged 16 and above, as part of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology's efforts to raise awareness of AI, accelerate the readiness of national talents, and develop digital skills to support future job opportunities. The program is scheduled to start on February 26, 2026.
