Saudi traffic authorities warned against drivers using any handheld mobile device while the vehicle is in motion, stressing that this constitutes a clear traffic violation that warrants legal penalty.

The traffic department clarified that the fine for this violation ranges between 500 and 900 riyals, due to the extreme danger posed by using mobile devices while driving to the safety of the driver, passengers, and other road users.

The traffic police called on drivers to avoid distraction by mobile phones or any handheld device while driving, and to comply with traffic regulations that help enhance safety levels and reduce accident causes.
