The branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the Eastern Province organized a workshop entitled 'Issuing Licenses for Using Groundwater Sources (Wells)' at the branch's extension unit.

Engineer Fahd bin Ahmed Al-Hamzi, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in the Eastern Province, stated that this workshop aims to introduce the regulations and conditions for issuing licenses for using groundwater sources (wells) for the agricultural sector and various purposes.

Engineer Al-Hamzi added that during the workshop, the steps for applying for the service of issuing licenses for using groundwater sources via the ministry's website 'Nama' were reviewed, in addition to the ministerial resolution No. (15007853) dated 11/1/1447 AH approving the extension of the deadline for obtaining licenses for using groundwater sources (wells), which ends on 5/2/1448 AH, and what the deadline exempted from local agricultural companies and licensed large farmers for wheat cultivation and the activities carried out by the Saudi Water Authority and the Food and Drug Authority (water trucks for potable and non-potable water, and water factories).

Engineer Al-Hamzi urged all farmers to benefit from the extension of the deadline for an additional year starting from 5/2/1448 AH, with the exemption for the aforementioned activities continuing. Engineer Muhammad Al-Fateel, Director of the Non-Profit Sector and Agricultural Solutions Department at the ministry's branch in the Eastern Province, called on farmers to promptly apply for licenses for using groundwater sources (wells) to ensure the development and enhancement of the agricultural sector, achieving balance and sustainability of groundwater sources (wells) and water security currently and for future generations.
