The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on platform X that US forces completed a third round of airstrikes within a week against Iran, hitting about 140 Iranian military targets on Saturday.
The Central Command added that the targets included Iranian missile and drone sites, naval positions, ammunition depots, communication networks, and coastal surveillance sites.
The military said in a statement that during the raids over the past three nights, US forces hit more than 300 targets.
CENTCOM announced that Saturday's strikes were in response to the attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. It added, 'The movement of commercial ships through this vital international waterway continues.'

The US strikes came hours after Iran announced the closure of the strait following warning shots fired at a ship that took an unauthorized route.
Iran warned that any reaction to this incident would be met with a 'firm response'.
The US Central Command identified the vessel as MV V.G.F.S Galaxy, a container ship flying the Cypriot flag, stating that it suffered severe damage to the engine room and that one of its civilian crew members is missing.
