CNN Reporters Hear Loud Explosions in Doha
(CNN)-- CNN reporters in the Qatari capital, Doha, reported hearing loud explosions early Friday (local time).
A government alert sent to mobile phones - seen by CNN - indicated a raised threat level and urged residents to stay in their homes and safe places, but the alert did not clarify the cause of the loud sounds heard.
Shortly after, the government sent another alert via mobile phones stating that the threat had passed and the situation had 'returned to normal.'
While Iran has launched repeated attacks on military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, it refrained from targeting Qatar in recent days; Iran also has not announced whether it targeted Qatar on Friday morning.
Qatar, which has relatively friendly relations with Iran, has been a key negotiating party throughout the conflict.
Earlier this week, Qatar condemned Iran's repeated attacks on Arab countries in the Gulf and the broader Middle East region.
