Israeli settlers attacked the village of Deir Jarir east of the city of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank on Thursday evening, and besieged a number of Palestinian families inside their homes.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces uprooted hundreds of trees and destroyed water lines in a village east of Tubas governorate in the northern West Bank.

Local sources told Anadolu Agency correspondent that about 150 settlers attacked Deir Jarir from four directions and closed the main gate of the village, coinciding with an Israeli forces' incursion into it, in an attempt to restrict Palestinian movement.

The sources added that the settlers besieged a number of families, including women, children and the elderly, and tried to assault them and burn inhabited homes, and caused damage to Palestinian homes and property, with the attacks continuing until the time of preparing this news.

In Tubas, Moatasem Bisharat, the official in charge of the valley file in the governorate, said that Israeli forces uprooted more than 300 olive and grape trees and destroyed water carrier lines feeding about 45,000 dunams (one dunam equals 1,000 square meters) in the village of Atoof and the Baqai'a plain, east of the governorate.

Bisharat explained to the Palestinian news agency 'Wafa' that the uprooting and bulldozing operations are part of an Israeli project since the beginning of this year, which includes carving out a military road and erecting a separation wall on citizens' lands.

He added that preliminary plans indicate that the wall will extend 22 kilometers long, from the village of Ein Shibli to the Tayasir military checkpoint, which will isolate tens of thousands of agricultural dunams and strengthen Israeli control over the Jordan Valley area.

Since October 8, 2023, the West Bank has witnessed an Israeli escalation by the army and settlers, resulting in the killing of 1,175 Palestinians, the injury of 12,919, the arrest of about 24,000, and the displacement of 33,000, according to official Palestinian data.
