The Israeli army early Friday shot a number of Palestinians, assaulted others, and detained ambulance crews during a raid on the village of Al-Mughayyir in the central occupied West Bank.

In a statement to Anadolu, Amin Abu Alia, head of the Al-Mughayyir village council east of Ramallah, said clashes broke out after Israeli forces stormed the village from its eastern side.

He added that the clashes resulted in three Palestinians being shot, who were transferred to a medical center in the nearby town of Abu Falah.

He explained that the army stormed the home of citizen Muhammad Hamid Abu Alia and assaulted those inside, causing bruises and injuries to several of them.

Following that, clashes erupted with Palestinians who went to support the family, during which the forces fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters.

For its part, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its crews treated two injuries: one person was hit by shrapnel from a sound bomb in the head and face, and another was assaulted by beating, before both were transferred to the hospital.

The society later added that its crews treated a 60-year-old man shot and transferred him to the hospital for treatment.

Later, the society announced in another statement that Israeli forces detained its crews for about two hours before releasing them while they were treating the wounded inside a home in the village, and confiscated the keys of the ambulances.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli army regarding the raid or the detention of ambulance crews.

These developments come amid an escalation of Israeli raids and military operations in West Bank cities and towns, coinciding with the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 8, 2023.
