The Ministry of Interior today issued a statement regarding the execution of a criminal in the Tabuk region. The following is its text: Allah Almighty says: "And do not cause corruption on the earth after its reformation" (Quran 7:56). He also says: "And seek not corruption in the land; indeed, Allah does not like corrupters" (Quran 28:77). He says: "And Allah does not like corruption" (Quran 2:205). He says: "Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment" (Quran 5:33). Abdulrahim Ibrahim Abdulrahim Saleh Darwish (Egyptian nationality) smuggled amphetamine pills into the Kingdom. By the grace of Allah, the security authorities were able to arrest the aforementioned perpetrator. The investigation led to his indictment for the crime. Upon referral to the competent court, a verdict was issued proving the charges against him and sentencing him to death as a discretionary punishment (ta'zir). The verdict became final after being appealed and upheld by the Supreme Court. A royal order was issued to implement the legally prescribed punishment. The death sentence was carried out on Abdulrahim Ibrahim Abdulrahim Saleh Darwish (Egyptian nationality) on Saturday 4/2/1448 AH corresponding to 18/7/2026 AD in the Tabuk region. The Ministry of Interior announces this to affirm the Saudi government's commitment to protecting the security of citizens and residents from the scourge of drugs, and to impose the severest penalties prescribed by law on smugglers and traffickers, because they cause loss of innocent lives, serious corruption among youth, individuals, and society, and violate their rights. It also warns anyone who engages in such acts that the legal punishment will be their fate. Allah is the Guide to the Right Path.
