Execution of Egyptian Amphetamine Smuggler Carried Out in Tabuk
The Ministry of Interior announced on Saturday the implementation of the death penalty by ta'zir against Abdulrahim Ibrahim Abdulrahim Saleh Darwish (Egyptian nationality) in the Tabuk region, after he was convicted of smuggling amphetamine tablets into the Kingdom.
The ministry’s statement explained that security authorities managed to arrest the perpetrator, and the investigation led to charges being filed against him for committing the crime. After his referral to the competent court, a verdict was issued confirming his guilt and sentencing him to death by ta'zir. The verdict became final after being appealed and upheld by the Supreme Court, followed by the issuance of a royal order to carry out what was legally decided.
The statement added that the death sentence was executed on Saturday, 4 Safar 1448 AH, corresponding to July 18, 2026, in the Tabuk region.
In the same context, the Ministry of Interior affirmed the Saudi government's commitment to protecting the safety of citizens and residents from the scourge of drugs, and imposing the severest penalties on smugglers and traffickers, warning anyone who attempts such acts that they will face legal punishment.
