The Moroccan army and the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) signed a memorandum of understanding in Stuttgart, Germany, regarding the establishment of a joint multi-domain military training center in the Kingdom of Morocco for the benefit of African countries.
The memorandum was signed on the Moroccan side by Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (Moroccan army) Mohammed Berriaz, and on the American side by AFRICOM Commander Dagvin Anderson, according to a statement from the Royal Armed Forces.
The signing took place during a working visit by Berriaz, leading a military delegation, to the AFRICOM headquarters in Stuttgart, which began Monday, without specifying its duration.
The statement pointed out that "the establishment of this center will contribute to strengthening the Kingdom's leadership in the security field, and will also raise the level of operational readiness and enhance interoperability between the Royal Armed Forces and their American counterparts."
It added that the center "will serve as a reference for training and experimentation for partner African countries, in addition to encouraging innovation in defense, thereby enhancing the ability to confront common threats and contributing to consolidating regional stability."
The statement considered that the memorandum of understanding "falls within the framework of the roadmap for defense cooperation for the period 2026-2036, signed in Washington on April 16, 2026, between the two countries."
In last April, the two countries signed a roadmap for defense cooperation between 2026 and 2036, aimed at strengthening military cooperation fields.
