Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi acknowledged a security breach that facilitated the US and Israeli strikes that occurred on February 28, resulting in the deaths of a number of Iranian political and military leaders, noting that this breach may still be ongoing.

Araghchi spoke about the possibility of security failures before the war his country fought with the United States and Israel, indicating that important government and military meetings may have been compromised.

The Iranian foreign minister, in an interview excerpts of which were published in Iranian media on Sunday, recounted his experience during the first day of the war on February 28.

Araghchi said that several key political and military decision-making bodies were holding meetings at the same time as the airstrikes targeted Tehran.

A number of senior Iranian political and military officials were killed on the first day of the war, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Araghchi explained that he met on the morning of that day (February 28) with the director of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's office to brief him on the latest developments in the negotiation process with the United States.

Araghchi, referring to Israel and the United States, said, 'The crucial point, from my perspective, is that they were aware of these meetings.'

He added, 'This perhaps indicates a security breach that existed and may still exist.'

He continued that the problem was not limited to breaches.

Araghchi explained, 'The matter may sometimes involve influencing the direction of decision-making processes,' adding, 'I do not wish to go into more details about that publicly.'
