Faisal Al-Fayez: Jordan will not allow its territory or airspace to be an arena for any regional conflict
The Jordanian Senate followed with grave concern the serious security developments in the region, the attacks faced by Jordan, and the resulting escalating challenges.
Jordanian Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez said that Jordan stands today on the front lines of the dangerous regional escalation, facing unprecedented challenges and becoming a direct target of Iranian attacks, in flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
He added that Jordan, with its wise Hashemite leadership, the awareness of its people, and the resilience of its armed forces and security agencies, will not bow to these challenges. Its sovereignty and national constants will remain a red line, and Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, will remain an impenetrable barrier against any attempts targeting its security and stability.
The Jordanian Senate President affirmed that Jordan will not allow its territory and airspace to be an arena for any regional conflict and will not permit their use in any aggression against any brotherly or friendly state.
He continued: 'Jordan is a state of peace and stability, committed to the principles of good neighborliness and non-interference in the affairs of others. These clear Jordanian positions have not prevented the Iranian regime and its proxies in the region from targeting Jordan with missiles and drones, which now threaten the safety of its territory and citizens, and this is unacceptable.'
The Jordanian Senate President indicated that what is required today to confront the challenges facing Jordan is 'standing united behind the leadership of King Abdullah II in his continuous defense of Jordan’s national constants, sovereignty, security, and stability.'
Al-Fayez also stressed the need to rally around national constants, the armed forces, and security agencies, who are confronting these attacks with high efficiency and unwavering resolve.
He continued: 'We in the Senate call on the Jordanian people, all political, partisan, social, and national forces, to remain cohesive and vigilant, and to stand behind our Hashemite leadership, our armed forces, and our national institutions to overcome these challenges. We affirm the necessity for these various forces to rise to their role in confronting these challenges and Iranian attacks against Jordan, for no interest supersedes the interest of the nation and its security and stability.'
Al-Fayez called on the international community to assume its responsibilities through 'serious efforts to stop Iranian attacks on Jordan and the Arab Gulf states, enforce respect for international law, and affirm that Jordan’s security is an integral part of the security of the Arab Gulf states, and that any threat to the Kingdom will affect the stability of the entire region.'
The Jordanian Senate President concluded by stating that King Abdullah II always emphasizes at all regional and international levels the need to end the region’s conflicts through political frameworks and adherence to international legitimacy resolutions.
This statement comes amid the mutual escalation between Iran and the United States, and the regional and international concerns this tension creates regarding its direct repercussions on the stability of the region as a whole.
