The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said on Tuesday that the US Department of Defense "Pentagon" hides the true number of its losses in Jordan.

In a statement, the Revolutionary Guard said the number of US soldiers killed as a result of its attacks on Jordan is larger than the announced figure.

It added that the Pentagon is covering up its military losses, especially those resulting from attacks targeting the US base in Jordan, which led to the killing of a large number of US soldiers.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) had announced on Saturday the killing of two of its soldiers and the loss of a third while repelling, on Friday, Iranian attacks with missiles and drones in Jordan.

In an update on Sunday, CENTCOM said it had found unidentified remains at the attack site, and that procedures to examine and verify their identity are still ongoing.

For days, the United States has been launching successive waves of strikes on sites inside Iran, while Tehran has been launching attacks on "US ships, facilities, and military bases" in a number of regional countries.

This comes despite Washington and Tehran signing a memorandum of understanding on June 18, which included a ceasefire and the start of negotiations to reach a broader agreement.

However, US President Donald Trump announced on July 8 the end of the ceasefire, after Iran targeted 3 ships in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting Washington to resume its strikes inside Iran, amid escalating responses from Tehran in the region.

Washington demands ensuring freedom of navigation and its security in the Strait of Hormuz, while Tehran insists on imposing a mechanism to regulate the passage of ships through the strategic waterway, exacerbating fears of disruption of oil and gas exports from the region.
