Perhaps at the beginning of this article I ask a question: Does protecting children from intellectual deviation start inside school and university, or does the real beginning start within the family?

When we talk about intellectual security, the first thing that comes to mind is the role of school, university, media, or religious institutions. Despite the importance of these entities, the family remains the first line of defense, and the first school where a person's character is built before they knock on the doors of formal education. The child is born a blank slate, on which parents write the first values and principles, shaping their view of themselves, others, and their homeland. Therefore, intellectual security does not begin from textbooks, but from the style of dialogue at home, respect for other opinions, instilling the value of moderation, and teaching children that difference does not mean hostility, and that a person's strength lies in their intellect and morals. Today, the family faces an unprecedented challenge; children no longer receive knowledge only from their parents, but the world is present in their smartphones, bringing them ideas and cultures that may be useful or misleading. Hence, the family's responsibility multiplies; what is required is no longer just supervision, but building trust, enhancing dialogue, and immunizing children with awareness so they can distinguish between truth and rumor, between moderate thought and extremist calls. Intellectual vacuum opens the door to exploitation of minds. Therefore, the family that makes dialogue a way of life and gives its children space for expression builds intellectual immunity that protects them from many deviant ideas. Intellectual security does not mean preventing our children from thinking, but teaching them how to think. A conscious mind is capable of analyzing information, verifying it, and not being swayed by everything published on social media. Also, instilling national belonging is one of the most important foundations of intellectual security; a child who is proud of his homeland, respects its systems, and preserves its gains becomes more capable of rejecting any call that targets his country's security or stability. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continuously pays attention to enhancing intellectual security through national initiatives, educational programs, and intellectual awareness units, reflecting the importance of building the individual and protecting society. The school, no matter its capabilities, cannot remedy what the family neglected, just as the family cannot succeed alone without integrated roles with the school, media, and other societal institutions. Children learn more from role models than from advice; a child who sees his parents discussing respectfully, verifying news before sharing, and avoiding hate speech will likely grow up with the same values. Intellectual challenges have become more complex, and therefore building intellectual immunity within the family is no longer an educational choice but a national necessity. Intellectual security does not begin at the school gate, but from home; if the family is sound, thought is sound; if thought is sound, the person is upright; if the person is upright, the homeland flourishes and remains safe and strong with its children.
