The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, strongly condemned the threats launched by the Houthi group against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, maritime navigation security, and the freedom of international trade, stressing that these practices represent a threat to regional and international security and cannot be accepted or justified in any way.

The Secretary-General explained that these threats come within a series of attacks and allegations that the Houthi group continues to launch against the Kingdom, the latest of which were the missile attacks that targeted the south of the Kingdom, along with threats directed at maritime navigation in the Red Sea.

He affirmed that the statements and accusations issued by the military spokesman of the Houthi group constitute an unacceptable escalation, stressing that the continued targeting of maritime navigation threatens the security and stability of the region and affects the movement of international trade and the safety of sea lanes.

The Secretary-General reiterated the full solidarity of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its standing with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to protect its security and stability, referring to the efforts made by the Kingdom to support peace efforts in Yemen, in addition to the humanitarian and relief aid and development projects it provided to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people. The Secretary-General called for the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions related to the Yemeni crisis and adherence to the resolutions regarding the protection of the security and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, which contributes to enhancing regional and international security and stability.
