The head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament, Ibrahim Azizi, announced that a new bill has been submitted to parliament regarding the regulation of passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Azizi explained via the American company 'X' platform on Tuesday that a bill concerning the strategic action for the security of the Strait of Hormuz and sustainable development of the Gulf region was officially submitted to the Iranian parliament, coinciding with the downing of US drones.

He affirmed that Iran adheres to its red lines regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz, adding, 'This is the first step, and subsequent steps will worry our enemies.'

For days, the United States has been launching attacks on Iran under the pretext of responding to Tehran's targeting of commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

In response, Tehran retaliates by bombing what it claims are US military installations in Arab countries, while some of those countries have announced that Iranian attacks resulted in civilian casualties and damaged civilian facilities.

The Strait of Hormuz region is witnessing security tensions against the backdrop of the war launched by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28, 2026.

In June 2026, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding that included a ceasefire, following Qatari and Pakistani mediation, in preparation for reaching a final agreement to end the war, before US President Trump announced on July 8 of this month the end of the ceasefire against the backdrop of renewed escalation.
