DAMMAM — Saudi Civil Defense announced Wednesday that the threat which triggered an emergency alert in Dammam was over, coming just minutes after advising residents to seek shelter and comply with safety measures.

Emergency alerts are a standard part of Saudi Arabia's public safety system, used to warn residents of various threats.

In a statement on the National Platform for Early Warning in Emergencies, the Civil Defense confirmed the situation was resolved, urging residents to keep following official guidance, refrain from congregating or recording scenes, and dial 911 for any emergencies.

Previously, an emergency alert was issued instructing residents to stay composed, head to the nearest secure spot inside buildings, avoid windows and open areas, and remain indoors until officially notified that it was safe.

Motorists who received the alert while driving were instructed to pull over in a safe location away from bridges and high-rise buildings.

The Civil Defense stressed the need to depend on official sources for updates and to adhere to directives from relevant agencies to guarantee public safety.

The National Platform for Early Warning in Emergencies is the official system for disseminating urgent safety messages in Saudi Arabia. Such alerts are typically activated for severe weather events, industrial accidents, or other imminent dangers.
