If the Houthis Do It! - Khalid bin Hamad Al-Malik
The terrorist Houthi militia may commit a grave mistake, targeting a vessel flying the Saudi flag, whether it suffers damage or the hostile target is intercepted and shot down before reaching it, because then it will face a stern, violent, and painful response.
* *
Iran may have dictated this militia to commit this crime as part of the escalation that prolongs the war, even with increasing human, military, and economic losses, and the worsening destruction that has affected everything in Iran.
* *
We do not wish for the Houthi militia to embark on an adventure that will cost it dearly, and it would be better for it to understand that its current role in serving Iran at the expense of Yemen's and its people's interests has ended with the near end of Iran's role in harming the region's countries.
* *
The Kingdom possesses enough power to keep the Houthis under devastating military pressure if they think of attacking Saudi ships, but alongside the Kingdom, there is the coalition, and there is the world that will not allow a repeat of Iran's experience in the Strait of Hormuz in Bab el-Mandeb, and will not accept any breach of Red Sea security.
* *
The world's economy depends on the smooth, flexible, and unobstructed flow of oil from the Gulf region, which means preventing Iran and the Houthis from obstructing that by using force to control the seas and international maritime corridors. This is what America is doing, and international participation with America will expand if the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb are subjected to Houthi attacks.
* *
Iran's adventures in controlling the Strait of Hormuz and targeting ships that tried to cross have resulted in what we now see: daily American attacks on it and a naval blockade. If the Houthi militia dares to target ships in the Red Sea, its fate will be no less than what Iran has faced.
* *
So beware that the Houthis test the Kingdom's forbearance, patience, and wisdom in dealing with those who threaten its security, or imagine that the response to any aggression will be less than stern force, devastating strikes, and hell that will reach everyone who is part of this terrorist campaign.
* *
The Council of Ministers, and before it the statements issued by the Kingdom, have affirmed what the Saudi position will be in the face of any foolish Houthi action against a country known only for its financial and economic support to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people caused by this militia since its coup against legitimacy and its takeover of Sanaa and other cities in the north.
* *
In light of these developments and the Houthis' attempt to escalate and drag other countries into this swamp of wars, they are only entangling themselves in confrontations they cannot absorb the painful losses that will result, perhaps more than the losses they have suffered since their coup against legitimacy.
* *
The Kingdom is not alone against the Houthi statement; a number of countries have condemned it and declared solidarity with the Kingdom, including Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, and the legitimate Yemeni government. The US President announced that America will take a position if the Red Sea and commercial tankers are subjected to any aggression, and the Gulf Cooperation Council also condemned this criminal Houthi behavior.
Saudi political analysis
* *
Therefore, we say to this terrorist militia: do not play with fire, and do not entangle yourselves in what is not in your interest. This can be said in light of actions where the militia fails to read the future with behavior that violates international laws, norms, and good neighborliness.
