International and Arab Condemnations of Houthi Militia Threats Continue

Full Solidarity with the Kingdom

Britain strongly condemned the threats issued by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom, including the imposition of a naval blockade, affirming that these provocations lead to further destabilization of the region, threaten freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, and undermine efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen.

The British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office stressed in a statement yesterday that the United Kingdom stands firmly alongside Saudi Arabia and its other partners in the region in the face of these threats, calling on the Houthi militia to immediately cease its escalatory actions. For its part, Mauritania condemned in the strongest terms the statements and threats issued by the so-called military spokesman of the Houthi militia, stating that they include false claims targeting the security and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and constitute a threat to the freedom of maritime navigation and the security of international waterways.

Mauritania affirmed, in a statement issued by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its full and absolute solidarity with the Kingdom, and its firm standing by its side in the face of anything that targets its security, sovereignty, and vital interests, and its support for its full right to take whatever appropriate measures it deems to protect its territory, citizens, and maritime navigation. Sudan also strongly condemned the threats issued by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom, including the imposition of a naval blockade, affirming that these provocations lead to further destabilization of the region, threaten freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, and undermine efforts aimed at achieving peace in Yemen. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reiterated in a statement its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to maintain its security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The Sudanese government called on regional and international communities to exert more pressure and take measures to combat the activities of terrorist militias in all countries and to seek their complete elimination. The United Arab Emirates also condemned in the strongest terms the statements of the Houthi militia against the Kingdom, including threats to ban maritime navigation. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to ensure the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, affirming that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a right guaranteed by international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982. The Ministry affirmed the UAE's full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support for all that preserves its security.
