Iran: Explosions Heard in Bandar Abbas City on Strait of Hormuz
According to official Iranian TV...
Ankara / Anadolu
Official Iranian television announced on Tuesday new explosions in the city of Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan province, southern Iran.
The television stated that the sound of five explosions was heard west of Bandar Abbas, which overlooks the Strait of Hormuz, without specifying their source.
On Tuesday morning, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of the latest wave of attacks on military targets in Iran, including Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas.
The Strait of Hormuz region is witnessing security tensions against the backdrop of the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, 2026.
For days, the United States has been launching attacks on Iran, claiming retaliation for Tehran's targeting of commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
In June 2026, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding that included a ceasefire, following Qatari and Pakistani mediation, to pave the way for a final agreement to end the war, before Trump announced on July 8 of this month the end of the ceasefire amid renewed escalation.
