The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday that one US soldier was killed and another injured during an operation to deal with unexploded ordnance from an Iranian drone that had fallen earlier in northern Iraq.

CENTCOM clarified in a statement that the soldier was killed while conducting a controlled detonation of the unexploded ordnance, while another soldier sustained minor injuries and is receiving treatment.

Thus, the number of US soldiers killed since the outbreak of the war between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other on February 28 has risen to 17, according to CENTCOM.
