Iranian Media: Explosions Heard in 4 Cities Following US Attacks
Iranian authorities did not immediately announce any material or human losses from the US attacks
Tehran / Anadolu
Iranian media reported on Wednesday hearing explosions in the cities of Ahvaz, Chabahar, Rask, and Bandar Abbas, after the United States announced the start of attacks on Iran.
Tasnim News Agency reported hearing at least 4 explosions in the city of Ahvaz in Khuzestan province (west).
Meanwhile, Hormozgan province (south) announced the start of US attacks on the city of Bandar Abbas in the evening hours, according to local media.
Hormozgan province added that several missiles hit Bandar Abbas, overlooking the Strait of Hormuz.
It reported that details of the attack would be announced later.
For its part, Khuzestan province announced that the United States targeted 4 sites in Ahvaz (the provincial capital).
Iranian media also reported explosions in the cities of Chabahar and Rask in Sistan and Baluchestan province (southeast).
Since dawn on Sunday, the United States has been launching daily raids on several cities and islands in Iran, claiming to respond to Tehran's targeting of commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
On Tuesday evening, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced launching new attacks and resuming the naval blockade on Iran.
In response, Tehran retaliates by bombing what it says are US military facilities in Arab countries, while some of those countries have reported that the Iranian attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and damaged civilian facilities.
Washington and Tehran had previously signed a memorandum of understanding in June that included a ceasefire, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, in preparation for reaching a final agreement to end the war, before Trump announced on July 8 the termination of the ceasefire due to renewed escalation.
