Iranian media announced on Sunday the killing of officer Hamid Reza Dehghan, an officer of the air defense system in the naval force of the Iranian army, as a result of US attacks that targeted the city of Jask in southern Iran.

The Iranian "Urgent News" agency reported that Dehghan was killed during US strikes that hit military targets in southern Iran, noting that he was serving in air defense units affiliated with the Iranian navy.

The announcement comes days after Iranian authorities confirmed the killing of 8 members of the Iranian army in US attacks targeting sites in the cities of Bandar Abbas and Bushehr.

IRNA news agency, quoting the Iranian army, reported that the dead belong to the air force and navy, and fell while repelling attacks that targeted military installations in the south of the country.

The Iranian army affirmed that it would continue to repel what it described as "aggressions," vowing to retaliate against the US attacks, and stressing that the blood of the dead "will not go in vain."
