A fire broke out in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq on Friday following an attack with a rocket and a suicide drone.
According to the Rudaw television channel, based in Erbil (north), the city of Sulaymaniyah was attacked with a rocket and a suicide drone, leading to a fire at one of the targeted sites, with ambulance and fire crews dispatched to the area.
The identity of the party behind the attack was not immediately revealed, and no official statement was issued regarding the incident.
Iran launches attacks on camps of Iranian Kurdish groups opposed to the government in Tehran in the Iraqi cities of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, and also targets the US military base and the US Consulate General in Erbil.
Earlier on Friday, the Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq announced that the international coalition shot down 8 explosive-laden drones over Erbil's skies, while 9 members of the "Komala" organization, opposed to the Iranian government, were killed and 3 others seriously injured in a rocket attack on the organization's camp in Sulaymaniyah province, according to media.
It is worth noting that the Kurdistan Regional Government of northern Iraq strongly condemned previous Iranian attacks on Erbil and Sulaymaniyah, and called on Tehran to immediately cease the attacks.
