Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich described the current US strikes on Iran as an 'opportunity' for Israel, ruling out any Israeli involvement.

Several Israeli media outlets quoted Smotrich as saying: 'The current situation is suitable for us, and we have no interest in throwing ourselves into it.' He explained that Israel's primary goal is to weaken the Iranian leadership, and the best way to achieve that is through economic measures.

He stressed that Israel has 'no interest' in being dragged into the current confrontations between the United States and Iran.

About a month ago, Smotrich strongly criticized the United States' handling of Iran, after the two countries reached a memorandum of understanding.

The far-right minister said at the time that the agreement between Washington and Tehran was 'bad for Israel.' He expressed concern that it would undermine the goals of the joint US-Israeli military campaign, which, in his words, had weakened Iran.

Smotrich stressed the need for Israel to continue working to topple the ruling regime in Iran and prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
