Jeddah Municipality raided secret workshops hidden inside apartments and residential sites, which were being used to prepare and print counterfeit sports clothing, and prevented 3,699 pieces bearing logos of clubs and forged trademarks from reaching the markets, during two inspection campaigns carried out in the south and center of the governorate.

The Director General for Monitoring and Addressing Negative Phenomena, Yasir bin Saraj Bakhsh, explained that the two campaigns resulted in the seizure and complete destruction of the counterfeit garments, confiscation of 19 devices and equipment used in sewing, embroidery, printing, and cutting operations, in addition to referring the violators to the competent authorities to complete legal procedures.

In details of the first campaign, field teams carried out a joint campaign on Sunday in the scope of the University Sub-Municipality, during which they discovered the exploitation of two rooms inside a residential site for sewing, embroidery, printing of counterfeit trademarks and attaching them to garments. The campaign resulted in the seizure and destruction of 1,029 counterfeit pieces, and confiscation of 8 devices and equipment including embroidery, sewing, printing, and cutting machines, while 850 pieces free of logos were handed over to the 'Sustainability' Association for Preservation of Blessings for utilization.

Monitoring efforts extended to another site inside an apartment in a commercial residential building, where 2,670 pieces bearing counterfeit trademarks were seized and completely destroyed in the presence of the competent authorities.

The two campaigns were carried out with support from the University and Al-Aziziya Sub-Municipalities, and with participation of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Ministry of Commerce, Civil Defense, and the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, along with field inspection teams.

Jeddah Municipality affirmed the continuation of field inspection efforts with the aim of enhancing compliance, raising the efficiency of monitoring performance, and reducing violative activities that exploit residential sites, thereby contributing to consumer protection and providing a safe environment for residents and visitors.
