Field teams of Jeddah Municipality seized nearly 3,700 counterfeit clothing items bearing logos of clubs and trademarked brands before they reached the markets, during two inspection campaigns in the south and center of the governorate.

Confiscation of 19 devices and equipment used in manufacturing

Yasser Bakhsh, General Director of Monitoring and Handling Negative Phenomena, explained that the two campaigns resulted in the seizure and complete destruction of all counterfeit clothing, and the confiscation of 19 devices and equipment used in sewing, embroidery, printing, and cutting.

Bakhsh added that violators were referred to the relevant authorities to complete legal procedures, as part of a campaign in the University Municipality area, and another campaign implemented in Al-Aziziya Municipality, with the participation of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Ministry of Commerce, Civil Defense, the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, and field monitoring teams.

The first campaign, which detected the exploitation of two rooms in a residential site in University, resulted in the destruction of 1,029 counterfeit pieces and the confiscation of 8 devices and equipment including machines for embroidery, sewing, printing, and cutting, while 850 pieces without logos were handed over to the 'Istiqama' charity for reuse.

Follow-up operations extended to another location in an apartment in a commercial residential building in Al-Aziziya, which was exploited for the illegal activity. 2,670 pieces bearing counterfeit trademarks were seized and completely destroyed in the presence of the relevant authorities. The municipality affirmed the continuation of field monitoring to enhance compliance, improve supervisory performance, and reduce illegal activities that exploit residential sites.
