The Jordanian army announced on Sunday the interception of 3 Iranian missiles that targeted the kingdom's territory and the fall of a fourth in a remote area.

A responsible military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces stated that "air defense systems intercepted and shot down 3 Iranian missiles out of 4 that targeted the kingdom's territory, while the fourth missile fell in a remote area south of the kingdom far from population centers."

The source clarified that "the incident did not result in any human injuries or material damage, affirming that Royal Engineering Corps teams began dealing with the missile impact site and securing it according to the applicable technical and security procedures."

The source stressed that "the Jordanian Armed Forces continue to monitor the kingdom's airspace with the highest level of readiness, and will deal firmly with any threat targeting the kingdom's security and the safety of its citizens."

Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli army reported that it had spotted missiles launched from Iran towards the Jordanian city of Aqaba, adjacent to Israel.

It warned of the possibility of the attacks extending to southern Israel, at a time when official Jordanian television reported that sirens sounded across the kingdom.
